Psalm 37:3-5 Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. (4) Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. (5) Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act.
These three verses all begin with a unique verb – “Trust, Delight & Commit.” I like the way these three work together in somewhat of a progression…
We initially TRUST in the Lord. All relationships must be founded on trust. Without trust, it is difficult to move forward. We know our relationship with Jesus is by His good grace through our faith (trust).
After trust in the Lord is established, we find DELIGHT in Him. What a beautiful thought. We enjoy relationship, fellowship and even intimacy with the Lord. It is a good, pleasant and delightful thing to know Jesus. This is something completely unique and reserved for the follower of Christ.
This delight moves us to COMMIT to Him. When commitment flows from love, it is true, deep and lasting. When it flows from duty, it seems to fade. Continuing to discover new areas of loving commitment is a lifelong process.
We trust…we find delight…and we commit ourselves to Him. Sounds like a good recipe! God bless you in your quest for Christ today!
